The Secret in the Middle

One of my favourite poets is Robert Frost.   I like this one in particular:

The Secret Sits
We dance round in a ring and suppose,
But the Secret sits in the middle and knows.

It speaks to me of Yogic thought ... the monkey mind ... learning to look inside for the answers.   Our culture has always focused on looking outside for the answers, running around in circles to "experts" to hand us the secret, supposing they will fix us!!!   All we have to do is look inside for the answers ... sit with the inner mind.

When we forget to physically work from the middle, when we suppose that arms and legs and backs can do the work for us, we damage joints, strain tendons  and ligaments.    All we have to do is to work from the inside ... from the middle ... the bandhas.  Physically, that is the secret.

Even the secret to relaxation is to start from the strength in the middle and unwind outward in that gentle, natural, external rotation.  And from the quiet inner mind, expanding into that beautiful inner world.

Namaste'
